Meridians and sundials: a fascinating journey to discover time

Large turnout and extraordinary interest for the meeting "Meridians and sundials", held last night as part of the cultural series GIOVEdìBRUNELLO, which once again saw a packed hall of people eager to explore a topic as fascinating as it is rich in history, science and curiosities.

As usual, the evening was opened by the President of ARTandCHARITY O.D.V., Giovanni Tommasi, who welcomed those present, thanking them for their steady participation in the cultural events promoted by the association.

The floor then passed to the evening’s speaker, Roberto Baggio, President of the Association Centro Studi promozione Professione Medica based in Duno (Va) (as a blogger and sundial expert you can read him on Meridiane Varese) who, with expertise, passion and great communication skills, was able to guide the audience on a captivating journey to discover meridians and sundials. Through images, examples and historical curiosities, the speaker explained how, since ancient times, humankind learned to observe the Sun and its shadows to measure the passing of time, creating tools as simple as they are ingenious.

The evening was also an opportunity to greet and thank a special guest, Commander Maurizio Guzzetti, former solo pilot of the National Aerobatic Team Frecce Tricolori, who only a few weeks ago was the star of a memorable conference organized by ARTandCHARITY. A particularly meaningful moment that stirred the affection and sympathy of the audience present.

At the end of the talk, there was no shortage of questions from the audience, a clear sign of the interest sparked by the topic and of the quality of the presentation. The evening ended with a long, warm round of applause for the speaker, as a sincere thank-you for sharing his knowledge and experience.

Before the close of the event, the Mayor of Brunello, Andrea Dall’Osto, also spoke— a constant and always welcome presence at the GIOVEdìBRUNELLO series. In his greeting he wished to thank the many participants and express heartfelt appreciation to ARTandCHARITY O.D.V. for the commitment shown in organizing high-quality cultural initiatives, able to enrich community life and make Brunello a point of reference for cultural outreach in the area.

Closing the meeting once again was President Giovanni Tommasi, who recalled the next events on the calendar and the important cultural and social work that ARTandCHARITY O.D.V. continues to carry out locally, promoting culture as a tool for growth, connection, and solidarity.

We can certainly say that this first edition of GIOVEdìBRUNELLO is a real success. In just a few months the series has won over an ever larger and more loyal audience, confirming the strength of a quality cultural program capable of combining outreach, participation, and the promotion of local excellence.

The enthusiasm seen at every event, the quality of the speakers involved, and the growing public attendance show how culture, when offered with passion and expertise, can still engage, move, and build community.

A result that rewards the work of the association’s volunteers and provides the best incentive to continue with enthusiasm along the path taken, offering the community new opportunities for meeting, learning, and sharing.
