An evening destined to remain in the hearts of all those present.
Last night, Thursday, May 7, the multifunctional hall of Brunello experienced one of the most exciting and engaging events of the “GIOVEdìBRUNELLO” series, giving the very large audience in attendance over two hours of stories, emotions, memories and extraordinary anecdotes linked to the world of flight and the legendary Frecce Tricolori.
The guest of the evening was Commander Maurizio Guzzetti, the star of an exceptional career: first a military pilot on the iconic F104, then a member of the national aerobatic team of the legendary Frecce Tricolori, and finally an airline pilot for some of the most important international airlines.
Welcoming the audience, together with the volunteers of ARTandCHARITY O.D.V., was president Giovanni Tommasi who opened the meeting with a warm welcome message, underlining the importance of cultural occasions able to unite passion, memory and great human experiences.

Making the evening’s atmosphere even more special was the presence of a splendid 1:6 scale model of the famous MB339, perfectly working, kindly brought into the hall by Umberto Desanti. A true gem that immediately captured the attention and admiration of everyone present.
After the initial greeting, the floor was given to Professor Lorenzo Dominioni, who introduced Commander Guzzetti, taking the audience on a journey through his extraordinary professional and human experience.
One of the most intense and moving moments of the evening was undoubtedly the meeting between Commander Guzzetti and Chiara Bazzocchi, introduced by president Giovanni Tommasi.
Chiara is in fact the daughter of engineer Ermanno Bazzocchi, the “father” of the legendary aircraft used by the National Aerobatic Team.
Chiara’s words, filled with emotion and memory, deeply moved the audience. The memory of her father and the chance to meet someone who had worked directly with him created a genuine, human and truly unforgettable moment.
During the story, there was no lack of references to dramatic and historic moments in Italian aviation. Among these, the memory of the tragedy of the Ramstein air disaster, the terrible accident that occurred on 28 August 1988 during an aerobatic display by the Frecce Tricolori in Germany. An episode that deeply marked the world of aviation and that Commander Guzzetti experienced firsthand, being present in formation on that tragic day.
There was also great emotion when the Commander recalled the accident that occurred on 16 July 2004 at Rome-Fiumicino airport, when he managed to bring a Boeing 767 with one engine on fire safely to the ground, saving all the passengers on board thanks to his extraordinary skill, clarity and cool-headedness. An episode that aroused deep admiration and long applause from the audience present.
Commander Guzzetti took everyone through a fascinating story made of flights, training, friendships, incredible episodes and moments lived at very high altitude. A captivating journey into the world of military and civil aviation, told with great simplicity, humanity and irony, capable of keeping the audience literally glued to his words for over two hours.
An intense, engaging and emotion-filled evening that will hardly be forgotten by those who had the privilege of experiencing it. Once again, “GIOVEdìBRUNELLO” confirms itself as an event capable of offering culture, emotion and extraordinary encounters.
