Last March 22, ARTandCHARITY had the privilege of hosting the violinist Alessandra Sonia Romano in the concert “Giacomo Casanova: story of my life” which took place at the Salone Estense in Varese. The artist, after her extraordinary performance, received a special invitation for an event of great cultural significance: the presentation and the first performance of the "Casanova" violin, made by the Accademia Cremonensis and decorated by Prof. Elena Rosa Negrotti, on the occasion of the three hundredth anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Casanova.
Alessandra Sonia Romano wanted to extend this special invitation to our Association and in particular to the President Giovanni Tommasi and the secretary Manuela Codazzi.

During the ceremony, Alessandra Sonia Romano had the honor of opening the event by playing the Inno di Mameli and then a piece by Niccolò Paganini, enchanting the audience with her mastery and musical sensitivity.
The celebrations paid tribute to Giacomo Casanova, a multifaceted figure of the eighteenth century, whose adventurous life and restless spirit left an indelible mark on history. His most famous work, Histoire de ma vie (Story of My Life), represents an important testimony of the society of the 18th century and was described by Benedetto Croce as "the secret archive of the eighteenth century".
The Casanovian celebrations opened with welcome greetings to those present from the head of cultural activities, Fabio Perrone. The event began with institutional greetings from the Prefect of Cremona, Antonio Giannelli, and the Culture Councillor, Rodolfo Bona. Subsequently, there were presentations by distinguished scholars who delved into various aspects of Casanova's life and persona. Lawyer Federica Periale from the Milan Bar discussed Casanova as a law graduate, while Professor Cesare Fertonani from the University of Milan examined Casanova as a musician. Tiziana Zanetti from the Piero Chiara Archive in Luino presented Casanova "outside the lines." Professor Francesca Boldrini, a literature historian, discussed Casanova as a poet. Professor Davide Astori from the University of Parma analyzed Casanova's role as a (inter)linguist. Lawyer Caterina Pacifici from the Cremona Bar illustrated Casanova as a citizen of the Republic of Venice, while Dr. Antonio Cuzzoli, former head of the ASST Emergency Room in Cremona, explored Casanova as an alchemist. Professor Marco Rocchi from the University of Urbino spoke about Casanova as a Freemason, Professor Mario Caligiuri from the University of Calabria examined Casanova as a secret agent, and Professor Emanuele Bettini from the Diplomatic Meetings Center discussed Casanova as a diplomat. Finally, Dr. Francesco Baggio, a doctor at ASST in Varese and a gnomonist, illustrated the sundial project in homage to Casanova, which will be created and displayed in Venice.
The Casanovian celebrations will culminate on April 12 in Venice with the official handover of the "Casanova" violin to the museum dedicated to the illustrious Venetian, which will be inaugurated at Palazzo Zaguri in the San Marco district.
ARTandCHARITY is proud to have been present at this important cultural event, reinforcing its commitment to promoting art and music as tools for enhancing history and culture.
